Coming Soon:
District Square is a transformational mixed-use, multi-phased redevelopment

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This downtown Haverhill Mixed-Use Development will reinvigorate an underutilized stretch of Merrimack Street that has long been the site of a two-story parking garage. The infill project mends the urban fabric along three city streets and creates a notable landmark that will activate and anchor the east edge of the city center. The approved master plan envisions an ensemble of three buildings organized around a central public plaza defined by street-level retail and restaurants and programmed with active and passive seasonal uses. The plaza provides a key transition through the site and vertically between the more public Merrimack Street and the upper level of residential-scaled Park Way. From the higher elevation, the new buildings will frame a view south across the plaza to the Merrimack River beyond.

When completed, the project will include 396 rental apartment units across three buildings, a 600-space parking garage, approximately 27,000 square feet of residential amenity space, and 24,000 square feet of retail including Pentucket Bank at the corner of Merrimack & Main Streets.  A raised amenity terrace overlooks the plaza and features a pool and varied zones for gathering. The architecture along Merrimack Street presents more formal elevations that reference the scale and organization of Haverhill’s characteristic factory buildings, while the language of the courtyards is treated in a more expressive manner and animated with residential balconies.
